Britina has been honored to work alongside team members from Studio 646 Architecture and Denver Housing Authority to develop an innovative landscape design to complement this signature affordable housing and community design project. As a key site within the Sun Valley neighborhood redevelopment effort, emphasis is placed on accommodating public gatherings along the 10th Avenue corridor with various plaza spaces; the adjacent Fairview Elementary School community is integrated through educational features located throughout the site. Resource conservation drives the low-water and native-dominant planting design in vegetated areas that reflect the diverse ecology of the Rocky Mountain West. Inspired by the site’s adjacency to the South Platte River, the overall concept draws on the dynamic connections between Earth elements and the Sun.
